I have worked in the UK and abroad for over 25 years as a freelance trainer, consultant, coach, mentor, mediator, facilitator, researcher, writer, conference and event speaker. I have held management, development and liaison posts. My doctorate examined the psychological nature of prejudice and discrimination. I am an Executive and Personal Performance Coach, Cognitive Hypnotherapist, NLP practitioner, Assertion &Transactional Analysis trainer, teacher and ITEC massage therapist. I specialise in two areas of work: Interpersonal Skills and Diversity Issues.

Project Examples:

    Ove Arup, engineering multinational 1987 –  

    • Actively contributed to the development of the competency- based Appraisal scheme.
    • Sole Arup Appraisal UK trainer for 10 years
    • Trained other trainers as they came on board
    • Set up with HR training manager the appraisal process in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco  and Hong Kong
    • Set up 2 email performance monitoring exercises for over 200 staff
    • Delivered assessment review interviewing 50 appraisers and 80 appraisees world-wide 
    • Researched, wrote and delivered for the Arup Board Gender in Arup, 8,000 words in 2005. Conducted 200 interviews within Arup. Actions to come from report include: a women’s network has been set up, all recommended flexible working practices are in place, there is a Diversity Advisory Committee & Diversity Champions in every region, Diversity global & regional strategy proportional representative of women for promotions (number of female Directors has doubled), a Personal Impact course is now in place. 
    • In 2013, wrote a Gender Organisation Review (UK), which is being developed and implemented in 2014 and beyond. Areas covered include: the business case for Diversity, changing training  needs, retention policies, flexible working practices, pooling good practice through case studies, setting accountable targets and monitoring procedures
    • Sole Arup trainer to become involved in the Career Review programme. Ran workshops in the UK and Hong Kong                                                                       
    • Wrote, developed and delivered Arup’s most popular course ever, Personal Effectiveness: the intertwined circle of assertion, time & stress management skills, 12 times a year since 1990,  with great feedback:“This course changed my life”; “I feel so empowered”
    • In 2018 delivered LGBT+ Mentoring session and a series of Gender Pay Gap seminars for BDP
    • Currently delivering Anti-bias training for the Building Design partnership

Insurance sector 2013 –

Have run over 400 Diversity workshops for the managers of various  multinationals. Content has included the business case for Diversity, facilitating the progress of ‘minorities’, flexible working practices, anti-bias training, the impact of language, dealing with harassment & bullying issues, making real change happen.

Worked as a motivational coach with senior/junior execs, non-managerial and admin staff to enable them to deal with a wide range of issues such as loss of confidence, coping with conflict, making difficult decisions, performance issues, organisational change, leadership,  managing & retaining their clients, project management issues, coping with dysfunctional stress, managing time constraints, dealing with harassment and bullying cases, planning retirement and work crossroad issues such as redundancy, returning from maternity/paternity leave, a career break or illness.

 

Local Authorities 1992 - 

Was a consultant and trainer designing and implementing vDiversity training programmes for many Councils, e.g. Cambridge City Council, St Albans City Council, Three Bridges District Council, Mid-Suffolk District Council. Delivered a wide ranging number of courses for Cambridgeshire County Council over the last 25 years
